Ducks and Moorhens nesting at Hay Farm CONTACT US We are pleased to note that a family of Ducks and a family of Moorhens have made their nests in the little island in the middle of our pond at Hay Farm. They have just suddenly turned up and are pretty scarce during the day but return before dusk to settle down for the night. We have also just noticed a new blue egg has appeared in the ducks nest. I thought the mother or father duck would stay on it all day, like penguins, but it seems they leave the egg in the nest all day while they are foraging in the area.
